3 Amazing Maker's Mark Cocktails to Get You in The Autumn Mood

With summer officially over and winter on the horizon we thought it best to find some autumn cocktails to cheer up our seasonal depression.

We've recently welcomed Maker's Mark to the Secret Bottle family. They're one of the most iconic bourbon brands, and a mash bill bourbon featuring wheat instead of the more common rye which gives a rich sweetness and full, rounded mouthfeel.

Here are three Maker's Mark cocktails that will help get you in the autumn spirit: The Maker's Mark Manhattan, The Maker's Sour, and The Maker's Mule. All of these cocktails are delicious and perfect to enjoy during this season.

1. The Manhattan is a classic cocktail that has been around since the 19th century.

It is typically made with whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters. It is typically served in a chilled glass with a cherry and can be made with different variations, such as dry or sweet.

Ingredients

60mL Maker’s Mark Bourbon
30mL sweet vermouth
2 dashes aromatic bitters

A candied cherry to garnish

Method

First you're going to chill your glass before combining your ingredients in a mixing glass over ice.

Stir in circular motion and strain into a chilled glass, either neat or on the rocks it's up to you.

Garnish with a candied cherry and enjoy.

2. The Maker's Sour is a refined and refreshing blend of sweet and sour and is the perfect drink to get you in the autumn mood.

Made with Maker's Mark bourbon, lemon and simple syrup, this cocktail is perfect for enjoying on a crisp autumn evening.

Ingredients

60mL Maker’s Mark Bourbon
15mL simple syrup
30mL lemon juice

A candied cherry and a lemon spiral to garnish

Method

First you're going to add all ingredients into a shaker over ice.

Shake for 30 seconds.

Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.

Garnish with your lemon spiral and candied cherry.

Side note: For a traditional Whisky Sour, add an egg white before you shake the drink. This imparts no flavour but creates a rich, incredibly satisfying texture.

You can also use Mr. Consistent Sour Cocktail Mix for an even easier Maker's Sour - simply mix the two ingredients, shake and serve.

3. The Maker's Mule now I'm sure you're thinking this is clearly a summer drink but I beg to differ.

One of my go to ingredients when I have a winter cold is ginger and what's the main taste profile of a mule?... ginger!

The Maker's Mule is sweet and crisp with just the right bite, it's a refreshing take on the mule-type cocktail using Maker's Mark for an amazing added depth.

Ingredients

60ml Maker's Mark Bourbon
15ml fresh lime juice
1 dash aromatic bitters
Top with Cold ginger beer

A lime wedge to garnish

Method

First add your Maker's Mark, lime juice and bitters in a shaker over ice.

Shake for 30 seconds and strain into a copper mug over fresh ice.

Top with your ginger beer and give it a gentle stir.

Garnish with your lime wedge.

Maker's Mark changed the way we think of bourbon, all because one man changed the way he thought about making it.

By making it with soft red winter wheat, instead of the usual rye, a one-of-a-kind, full-flavored bourbon was established. It's easy to drink and a perfect bourbon for cocktails.
