What the Experts Say

(Review is of the 2015 vintage)

Lemon sherbet lollies, some floral notes, lime too. Light but flavoursome, gently sweet flavour, a bit coarse and diffuse, and pulls pithy and limey on the finish. It’s a nice enough wine, well chilled, to enjoy with the simple things in life.

89/100 - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

Our Notes

The “Killerman’s Run” Riesling from Kilikanoon puts varietal character way forwards. Crystalline talcum minerality meets a cool sea breeze and a touch of eucalypt or bay leaf, apricot holds everything together. Well-rounded lime-juice acidity, bone-dry in the regional style but a little fuller than you might expect, almost chewy. A textbook SA riesling, but more so.

Winemakers Comments

Mr Killerman, as a young Mort Mitchell called him, lived alone in a humble tin shed in the hills behind the Kilikanoon Cellar Door. Entirely self-sufficient, he grew his own fruit and vegetables and roamed the valley for his meals with rabbits being his favourite gourmet treat.

Mort grew to know and respect this man of the bush, learning the secrets of the land and how to become one with the environment. The Killerman's Run range of approachable wines showcases the distinguished and varied terroir of the Clare Valley and the Kilikanoon philosophy of uncompromised quality and consistency.

About the Winemaker
Founded in 1997 by Kevin Mitchell and his father Mort, Clare Valley's Kilikanoon has since rocketed to prominence among Aussie wine cognoscenti worldwide and is recognised as Australia's most-awarded winery. Full-bodied shiraz and riesling loaded with regional character are two specialties.

Some lucky members may recognise Kilikanoon from Secret Bottle's Masterclass collaboration - don't worry, we're not repeating any wines!

A most drinkable pinot gris with a slightly sweeter flavour without the harsher overtones of similar products.

19 crimes wines

I have found 19 crimes wines to be exceptional wines. Especially the Savignon Block and Cali Rose. I have only recently started drinking these wines but feel they are different than most other brands Ihave tried. I will be buying only these 2 wines in the near future.
