Our Notes

Cue the fanfare for this particularly stately Malbec blend from Seabrook’s “Lineage” range, an aristocratic and impressively precise wine that lays a perfume of rose of potpourri over an impeccably structured base that shows blueberry, fig, and tobacco smoke.

Almost feels as if it should call for a collar and tie or a leather armchair at the least, really, but we won’t judge if you go without either!

Winemakers Comments

Dark, rich, and concentrated, this Cabernet Sauvignon leaps out of the glass with bright aromas of mulberries and blackberries, along with hints of cedar, spice and dried tobacco leaf. Packed with dark fruit characters, aniseed and liquorice notes, the palate delivers wave upon wave of flavour, balanced with a soft acidity and an elegant and tactile structure. A subtle oak profile and fruit texture give this estate-grown Cabernet a soft, silky finish with astonishing length.

The Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from our very own ‘Home Block’ estate vineyard, on the Eastern Ridge of the Barossa Valley. The rows are orientated north south and the vineyard captures most of the afternoon sun. The shallow soils consist of innocuous clay and loams over white non-reactive clays. This coupled with the orientation and aspect, allow perfect conditions for early ripening.

About the Winery

The Seabrook family have been involved in just about every part of the Australian wine industry almost as long as such a thing has existed, but 5th-generation Seabrook scion Hamish is the first to venture into full winemaking. The revived Seabrook label pays homage to the W.J. Seabrook & Son blends of the 19th century, and the wines themselves are hands-on single-vineyard efforts made with an attention to detail generations in the making.

19 crimes

Although the 19 crimes blend is by far my favourite, I was keen to try the whole Red series, The Shiraz was very nice and I would definitely recommend this and the other 19 crimes to anyone 🙃
