It’s a ripe, mid-weight, warm-hearted red with fruit in all the right places and spice as a complement. It doesn’t put any steps wrong. It’s textural without being syrupy and the oak is pitched at low levels. There’s a peppercorn/graphite character too which works well in context. Earth, redcurrant and florals. A handy spread of unobtrusive tannin. Not bad at all. 91-92.

An unpretentious red from volcanic red soil of Heathcote’s Tellurian, and the first time we’ve featured the region! This one’s straightforward and classic, coming in at a hot 14.6% and showing some real cooperation between the constituent grapes.
Winemakers Comments
Heathcote’s warm days, cool nights and ancient Cambrian soils bring out the best in these varieties, the backbone of the Rhone Valley reds. Medium-bodied , Tellurian GSM balances the softness and elegance of grenache with structure and savoury characters of shiraz and mourvèdre.
About the Winery
Meaning "of the Earth", Tellurian was born from a passion for Heathcote's unique Cambrian soil and the richly textured Shiraz wines of the region. The vineyards themselves sit in the Cambrian red soil of the slopes of Mt Camel, an area that epitomises the region.
Tellurian's recent innovations have included plantings of Marsanne, Grenache, and the Italian varieties Fiano and Nero d'Avola that particularly suit Heathcote's combination of red soil and warm continental climate.
