Our Notes

"Yellow Label" is Veuve Clicquot's signature champagne, the symbol of the House's art of blending, defining the Veuve Clicquot style through a perfect balance of strength, aromatic intensity, freshness & silkiness.

From The Winemaker

The predominance of Pinot Noir provides the structure that is so typically Clicquot, while a touch of Meunier rounds out the blend. Chardonnay adds the elegance and finesse. Grapes from as many as 50 to 60 different Crus go to the blending of Yellow Label. Traditionally, the proportion of each grape variety used is 50 to 55% Pinot Noir, 15 to 20% Meunier and 28 to 33% Chardonnay.

Then, to achieve, year on year, the consistency that makes Yellow Label so immediately recognisable, Cellar Master Dominique Demarville will draw on priceless reserve wines for the blend (from 30 to 45%).

On the nose: yellow and white fruits, then notes of vanilla and later of brioche.

On the palate: freshness and strength while pear and lemon tastes appear.

Finish : admirably vinous. The lingering aromas echo and re-echo, with each fruit or almond notes distinct.

Created in 1877, more than 140 years ago, the iconic yellow label - now the most recognisable colour in Champagne - continues to represent both the House's heritage and its daring audacity. Ideal as an aperitif, and perfect as the Champagne to enjoy with a meal.

Didn't survive the transport

The Champagne survived, but one of the glasses was cracked when it arrived. Since they cost as much as the wine it is a poor investment.

Blast from the past!

I’d forgotten how delicious this wine is - for some reason we can’t buy it any more at any of our liquor outlets in Brisbane. Had to go online to find it. Very happy now!
