What the Experts Say
"This has lots going for it. Rich perfume of dark berries, sweet earth, dried flowers, very aromatic but feels kind of savoury. The palate is the same, bloody and rich, hewn with sheets of grippy, grunty tannins, upfront whips away quickly, feels tight, the finish a cavalcade of tumbling tannin, gamey fruit, piquant, tactile spice and minerally stony qualities. Boom. That somewhat missing front palate might just be the go now, but we get something serious to finish. I like it, all up." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
Our Notes
The Adelina Shiraz Mataro comes predominantly from vines planted between the 1910’s and 1930’s and are some of the Clare Valley’s most precious and respected vineyards.
Some 45% of the wine was aged in concrete with the remainder going into large-format, principally seasoned oak.
A lovely savoury red with notes of dark cherry, black currant and hints of spice. Cool and punchy with lovely fine, velvety tannins.

About the Winery
Adelina are a small vineyard and winery in the Springfarm sub-region of Clare, set amongst one of the most historically relevant winery and vineyards in Australia.
They run their farm with organic principles. The plantings of well established Shiraz, Grenache and Pedro Ximenez, some dating back to the turn of the 20th century and recent plantings, of Shiraz, Mataro and Malbec are NASAA certified.
They also work with a very small group of grape growers in Clare and the Adelaide Hills whom grow fruit for their non-estate wines. The winery is rustic in a sense of mod-cons and mechanisation, with the most elaborate piece of equipment being the coffee machine.
