Dark, sophisticated and smoky, but nimble and approachable for the style and the age. Cabernets Sauvignon (80%) and Franc (10%) both present, 3 years in oak, almost an old-world approach to bigger Aussie flavours.
From The Winemaker
This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (80%), Cabernet Franc (10%) Merlot (10%) made from hand harvested grapes grown on low-cropping 40-year-old vines, utilizing small pot fermentation, followed by maturation in French oak barrels for three years.
One of the best vintages in recent times, this wine leads with the ripe fragrance of Cabernet Franc followed by the deeper blackcurrant fruit of Cabernet Sauvignon and warm spicy cedar oak. The palate is full and softly textured, with ripe berry fruit and chocolate flavours, framed by smooth mature tannins.
