|Style||A chardy for the 21st Century
From Crittenden Estate’s ‘Geppetto’ range of fresh young wines made from French varietals, this cool-climate Victorian Chardonnay steers clear of the heavy oak and malolactic-fermentation treatment that Chardonnay haters and enthusiasists alike can be put off or bored by.
Fresh notes of melon and white peach on the nose and palate.
This wine only ever aspires to offer good honest value for money and as such is not tricked up with the use of oak or heavy handed malolactic. The vibrant fruit is allowed to shine through giving hints of fresh white peach and melon on the nose and palate. Although intended as a drink now style it will improve over the short to medium term of say two to four years.
About the Winery
A second-generation family-run business, Crittenden Estate began in 1982 with the good judgement of patriarch Garry Crittenden to establish a vineyard in the Mornington Peninsula, then not a winemaking region. Garry’s approach, using cutting-edge vineyard management and pioneering approach of establishing Italian grape varietals in Australia, has shaped the business to this day, and he remains at the helm even as children Rollo and Zoe take the reigns.
